Rille Nerbe Anette Olzon
R: With me on the telephone is Anette, good morning!
A: Good morning!
R: How are you doing?
A: I'm doing just fine thank you.
R: Hey, Anette Olzon, everyone maybe doesn't go like "Oh yeah, that's her!"
But you're actually the vocalist in Nightwish!
A: Yepp, that's correct!
R: For those that doesn't know how famous Nightwish are.. You guys are quite famous!
A: Yeah, we are actually a world famous band, and we sell about 1 million CDs.
R: Wow.. And you're on a really big tour since 2007 or have you finished that one now?
A: We finished the tour in September, we were touring for about two years.
R: Oh, so you have been touring the whole world then?
A: Yeah, I've missed some countries, we haven't been to Africa *laughs* but maybe the next time!
R: Symphony metal maybe isn't that popular in Africa? *laughs*
A: Well, there were actually some talking about that we would be going there, so we'll see, there might be some metalhead down there! *laughs*
R: Hey, you have done so many things as an artist, you've played oboe , you've in cover bands, performed in musicals, danced ballet, and now Nightwish, where do you feel that you belong the most?
A: I'm really really happy in Nightwish and I had never listened to metal before I joined, but now I've
seen other metal bands and got into the whole metal thing. Nightwish is a very theatrical music style, so it's almost like being in a musical while being on-stage. There's many different elements, different music, it's like you get to
play a role during the whole concert. I'm really happy here.
R: And now you're performing with your own name on P3 Guld. Does that mean that you will release a solo album?
A: Yeah, I've been working in the studio with new songs in Stockholm the whole Autumn. It's supposed to be a
side project, just for fun.
R: We won't be able to play anything now, but can't you describe a bit about the sound of your own music?
A:
It isn't metal at all, it's within the rock genre.. We've said that it sounds a bit like Enya with guitars.
R: You're very interested in fashion I've understood. Does that mean that there'll be a spectacular stage outfit on Tuesday?
A: It'll be a pretty "calm" outfit for once actually. But.. but of course, modern *laughs*
R: *laughs* Is it like that for you, you mentioned the theatrical aspects of Nightwish, that being an artist is some sort
of package and you need to look after all of the parts of it?
A: I think it is quite important that you have a certain personality on stage, that you give the fans something
spectacular. I can't really say that all my outfit choices are perfect in everyone else's eyes *laughs* but I usually have
a thought behind every outfit,
like if we go to Russia I try to make a "Russian themed" choice. [
- я всегда радуюсь, как ребенок, когда в интервьюшках попадаются такие милые мелочи про нашу страну]
R: When I've thought about you, I've been thinking that you must be living the perfect life, you are an international
star but at the same time quite anonomynous in Sweden?
A: Yeah that is very nice.
R: So I'm correct then?
A: Yeah, you are. It's very nice, I have this blog that are being read by quite many people and quite a few know who I am. Here in the city where I live many recognise me, but it's not like they run up to me like they do when I am in another country. I like the Swedish attitude towards celebrities, I think that it's nice that we are quite relaxed about it. You can walk past a really famous person and go "Oh, that's him.." and not "OH MY GOD I NEED AN AUTOGRAPH!", I think it's a nice and relaxed attitude we have here in Sweden, everyone is on the same level, and I think that that's awesome!
R: But hey, that could change now when you're going to sing with your own name on the P3 Guld gala.
A: Absolutely! And there's always that, you always want to be famous in your own country, and yeah, we are
very famous in Finland. The guys are very very famous there and that's stressful but at the same time
I think that they are proud that the Finns are very proud of them. So of course it could be fun if I became a bit more
famous in Sweden.
R: Okay, I might see you on Tuesday then! Have a good day!
A: Yes, absolutely! Bye!
